2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Debuts With 518 HP And Double Downforce

Posted on

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is finally here. This high-performance car received substantial improvements to its cooling system and aerodynamics that helped improve the car’s capabilities.

The new central radiator replaces the car’s previous three radiator setup, freeing up space for Porsche to install new active aerodynamic elements at the front. The car is capable of producing 901 pounds (409 kilograms) of downforce at 124 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour), twice as much as its 991.2-gen predecessor, and 1,895 pounds (860 kg) at 177 mph (285 kph).

Powering the 911 GT3 RS is the brand’s naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. It produces 518 horsepower (386 kilowatts) thanks to a new camshaft with a modified cam profile, featuring a motorsport-derived single throttle intake system. Porche distributes the car’s power through a seven-speed PDK gearbox.

Porsche says the GT3 RS will hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.2 seconds. It is capable of reaching a top speed of 296 kph. Stopping power comes for the six-piston front brakes and four-piston rear brakes, with the automaker offering the larger Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system as an option. Staggered 20- and 21-inch forged light-allows the center-lock wheel to connect the car to the ground.

The 911 GT3 RS keeps its weight low thanks to its extensive use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP). This helps the car weigh just 1,450 kilograms, and Porsche uses it for the doors, front wing and bucket seats.

Porsche will allow buyers to upgrade to the Clubsport package at no additional cost. It adds a steel rollover bar, six-point seat belt, and a hand-held fire extinguisher. Cars will also be available with the Weissach package, but will incur additional charges for adding a lot of stuff. It includes a carbon-weave coating on some exterior components and more CFRP parts such as front and rear anti-roll bars, rear axle thin panels and roll bars. Those who get the Weissach package can also upgrade to optional magnesium forged wheels to save even more weight.
