Ken Block Launches Audi EV Via Las Vegas At New Gymkhana

electricity finally here. Ken Block takes the Audi S1 Hoonitron on a high-speed adventure through the Las Vegas Strip, including into the casino. Along the way, some of Audi’s most important race cars made cameos.

Things started off in the wrong direction. It looked like Block was walking up to Walter Röhrl’s Audi S1 Pikes Peak rally car, but then the camera turned to the Hoonitron. The car has an electric motor sourced from Formula-E that drives each axle. The exact output isn’t clear, but this video shows that the engine has plenty of power for big slides at high speeds.

The first major setpiece was on a track where Block spun the Hoonitron 180 degrees and slid into a gap in the boulevard to go in the opposite direction. He followed up with a 360 degree turn while continuing to move forward.

The next big step is driving to the casino. The block remains in the entry area but has enough room to do some donuts. The people at the nearby craps table urged him on.

The block then travels to the top of the parking garage. Up there, he found a boxing ring and two fighters. Punching bags run along the outer edge of the area, and Hoonitron’s tail sends them flying.

The final big act was creating a smokescreen in front of The Strat.

Hoonitron goes through more than double the number of normal tires when making Electrikhana compared to other Gymkhana Block videos. Judging by the sparse amount of smoke escaping from the cabin, it’s not hard to see how this might have happened.

Look out for nine-time Le Mans 24 Hour winner, Tom Kristensen, who makes a brief cameo as the audience is shocked. If you’d rather take a look at the eye-catching Audi, the 1984 Quattro Gruppe B A2, 1988 200 Trans Am, 1989 90 IMSA GTO, R8 LMP, and R18 E-Tron Quattro also appeared.
