Last call! Renault Sport says goodbye forever with 1,976 very special cars

We knew that the day was close to arriving. A few weeks ago we warned you that time was running out to buy the latest car developed under the auspices of Renault Sport. The Renault Mégane RS is that car, and we already knew that its production would end in 2023, coinciding with the end of the life cycle of the fourth-generation Renault Mégane. Renault has just presented its Ultime special edition. 1976 cars celebrating the birth, life and end of Renault Sportand that mark the end of their traditional sports compacts.

The Renault Megane RS Ultime is based on the Trophy version of the Mégane RS. It is therefore animated by a 1.8 TCe engine with 300 hp and 420 Nm of torque – it does 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. In Europe it can only be associated with a seven-speed dual-clutch EDC automatic transmission, in addition to having a standard Torsen self-locking differential on the front axle and four steering wheels. In its undercarriage, this special edition mounts ultralight 19-inch Fuji Light wheels and the Bridgestone Potenza S007 semi-slicks developed for the Mégane Trophy-R.

Only 1,976 units will be built, in honor of the year Renault Sport was founded.

For older it has Brembo brakes, the Lowered Cup chassis and hydraulic suspension stops, with the aim of making your driving experience as sporty as possible. On an aesthetic level, this Mégane RS Ultime differs from other Mégane RS in the graphics on its body, with an aggressive appearance and inspired by the design of the new logo of the French brand. As for available colors, it will be sold in Star Black, Sirius Yellow, Pearl White and the characteristic Tonic Orange.

The body, already widened by itself by up to 60 mm compared to other Méganes, has black details on the grille, logos, mirrors, antenna or door handles. As standard, it has Recaro seats upholstered in black Alcantara, with the Renault Sport emblem embroidered on the backrest. The door openings are customized and of course, each unit is numbered, with a plaque located next to the gear lever. Each unit is signed by Laurent Hurgon, the lead driver for the vehicle’s development.

From now on, Alpine will be in charge of continuing Renault’s sporting tradition.

The Mégane RS Ultime equipment is very complete, with Bose hi-fi sound equipment, 10-inch digital instrumentation, RS Monitor telemetry in the infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, Head-Up Display or panoramic roof. In addition, each car will be sold with a personalized cover. The car will be presented to the public on January 13 at the Tokyo Auto Salon – the brand has a large community of fans in the Asian country.
