Porsche 911 Sally Special For Sale for $3.6M at Charity Auction

For Monterey Car Week 2022, Porsche made a 911 Sally Special and sold it to charity with RM Sotheby’s. The hammer fell at $3.6 million, which set a record for a new Porsche, according to the auction house.

The Sally Special comes from a collaboration between Porsche and Pixar to bring the character from car into real life. In the film, Sally used the 996 generation 911 model for inspiration, but this one applies that look to a modern 992 generation car.

For maximum accuracy, the company came up with a unique color called Sally Blue Metallic. The designers even included a hidden tattoo of the character under the active rear spoiler.

Porsche also took the general Turbo wheel design from the 996-gen 911 and adapted it for the current model. In this app, there are 20 inches in front and 21 inches in back. Tire valve stem cap showing: car logos.

The lime colored leather provides a contrast to the blue tones in the car. A thumbnail of Sally Carrera is on the passenger side of the dashboard.

Bonnie Hunt, who is the voice of Sally Carrera, attended the auction. The film’s production designer and character creator Bob Pauley was also there.

“Amazing night and results! Great to see a car inspired by my character in car do so much good,” Hunt said. “I’ve loved playing the role of Sally over the past 16 years, she has a special place in my heart, and it’s incredible that her personality and values continue to inspire new generations today.”

Car buyers receive a custom Porsche Design watch that features Sally Blue Metallic highlights. It comes in a presentation box with samples of custom interior fabrics. There are also books showing the vehicle design process, special car covers that resemble the characters, and a second set of wheels with special racks to hold them in place.

The US for UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, assists “nearly 6.2 million refugees who have been displaced across Europe since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.”
