Porsche Celebrates 50 Years In Taiwan With One-Off 911 GTS

Half a century ago, Porsche entered the Taiwan market and the first car sold there was a 1972 911E. To celebrate the milestone, the local branch of the automaker teamed up with the specialized Manufacturing division to build a one-off car based on the 911 GTS. It sports Irish Green paint in the same tone as the Lizard Green vehicles sold 50 years ago. This color was also chosen because Taiwan is a subtropical island with lots of green forests.

Taiwan was actually one of the first Asian markets for Porsche and the 911 Carrera GTS-50 Year Anniversary One of a Kind got a variety of exclusive design cues to mark the special occasion. For example, there is a white graphic at the bottom of the door depicting the coastline of Formosa. The quarter glass features the “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” logo to remind everyone that this is no ordinary 911.

The green exterior contrasts with the black Turbo S Exclusive Design with red brake calipers. The wheels have a centerlock configuration and are finished with a green outer lip to blend with the car body. At the rear, the Porsche lettering that stands out among the taillights comes with a matte black look to complement the changes on the outside.

Open the door and you’ll be greeted by an aluminum frame with the green words “50 Years of Porsche in Taiwan”. Above the glovebox, the embroidered logo says the same and is incorporated with the designation of the model in a larger font. For the center console, a special “50” logo is designed and is also included with the make and model. On the other hand, the cabin, which is dominated by black, has a combination of leather and Alcantara.

The one-off 911 GTS Coupe will be auctioned in the coming months. Porsche Taiwan said all proceeds from the sale would be diverted to benefit its charitable partners. Doing so would allow the people of Zuffenhausen to “give thanks to the local community and pay it back to the people of Taiwan.”
