The era of 4×4 supercars intensifies with the new Huracán Sterrato, its 610 CV and a farewell letter

Keeping a long, long distance, the new Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato reminds me of the LM002. Why? Because in both cases we find a most unusual off-road pairing, and it is none other than a V12 engine in the case of the SUV and a V10 in the supercar, both in atmospheric conditions. And although it is true that the Sterrato will have reduced off-road capabilities compared to a pure and hard 4×4, we come across 610 CV, all-wheel drive, a Rally mode to drive in areas of low adhesion and a production limited to 1,063 units.

And whether we are one of the lucky wealthy that those from Sant’Agata Bolognese call to get a Huracán Sterrato or not, tears are guaranteed, since we are before which will be the last Lamborghini to equip a fully combustion engine. Whether we like the concept more or less, we must admit that they have said goodbye to these already nostalgic mechanics with a lot of personality.

The new Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is here, the off-road supercar with a farewell flavor

But enough of the laments and comparisons and let’s get to the heart of the matter: what does the new Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato offer? At an aesthetic level we find numerous differentiating elements that have little to nothing to do with ornamentation. Thus, the front shows off some lights that perch on the hood, and which go into the background as soon as we pay attention to the side.

And it is that it is in said area that some wheel arches make an appearance in which winglets capable of housing a track width that grows by 30 millimeters at the front and 34 millimeters at the rear. In addition, the Huracán Sterrato experiences an increase in ground clearance of 40 millimeters, thus allowing greater suspension travel and avoiding having to deal with stones on the road and speed bumps on the asphalt.

Of course Lamborghini has protected the underbody of the Sterrato with aluminum plates. But the final icing puts it, together with a specific diffuser and a double exhaust outlet in a central position, an air intake located on the roof of the Italian supercar designed to cool the colossal engine.

Engine that is none other than the well-known -and soon extinct- 5.2-liter V10, an atmospheric engine that settles in the Huracán Sterrato as a farewell with 610 hp and 560 Nm of torque. These figures allow the off-road supercar to cover 0 to 100 in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h.

But given the new versatility of the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, the firm’s engineers have developed a new driving mode. This is called Rally and sits next to the well-known Strada and Sport, but it maintains its difference from these in that it allows controlled slipping on low-adherence surfaces, such as dirt or snow.

In addition, the Sterrato boasts 19-inch wheels with specific tires and that have a run-flat function. In turn, these hide a team of carbon-ceramic brakes of 380 millimeters in front and 356 millimeters behind. Thus, the set allows the new offspring of Lamborghini to declare on the scale of 1,470 kilos.

Be that as it may, at the moment the firm of the bull has not issued a price for the 1,063 units that will be produced of the new Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, but it is clear that it will not be suitable for ordinary mortals. What they have confirmed is that production will begin in February 2023 to put, almost certainly, an end to the life of the Lamborghini Huracán.
