2018 Toyota Celica GT

2018 Toyota Celica GT

Although popular, the Celica model coming from Toyota hasn’t been among the best-selling cars back in the 90s. In fact, its sale had started to drop significantly that the manufacturer decided to discontinue this model in 2005. Ever since then the fans have been waiting for some news about the new Celica and the recent rumors say that this sporty coupe might come back as a 2018 Toyota Celica GT model, here is what we know so far.

Exterior

If the rumors come true and the 2018 Toyota Celica actually hits the market, it should retain its well-known shape and general features. This sporty two-door hatchback coupe should undergo some serious changes and improvements in order to follow its next-generation competition. When it comes to innovations, the carmaker would probably use some lightweight materials in its chassis construction in order to save as much weight as possible and therefore boost the overall performance. The new Celica should also appear more attractive and modern than its predecessor and upgrade its exterior features to be more appealing to its buyers, especially the young ones. This coupe will probably be largely inspired by the FT-86 concept. That’s why we will see a longer hood and shorter rear end, as it has been the case with most of those race-inspired sports cars. The new Toyota Celica should at the same time combine that recognizable sporty and aggressive look with some elegant and sleek features.

Interior

The interior of the 2018 Toyota Celica GT should also reveal some serious changes and upgrades. The Japanese company will probably use some better-quality materials inside, such as leather and aluminum. It will be spacious, comfortable and probably quieter. Besides overall comfort, the new Celica should also undergo some significant refreshments in terms of technology. Therefore, the driver will probably get a larger touch-screen in the center console with the latest infotainment system and features such as climate control, navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, sound system, USB ports and others. Also, some of its safety systems and driver assist features that are expected to be provided include airbags, pre-collision warning, a rearview camera and parking sensors.

Other options have also been rumored. This sports coupe will probably be paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, but we are waiting for more information right now.
