2020 Toyota Fortuner
These days, you can find various kinds of reports on the network. Many of them are about the 2020 Toyota Fortuner. The capable off-roader has been around for years and the latest rumors suggest its arrival in North America as well. The reason for such rumors is simple. The current 4Runner is more than 10 years old and Japanese manufacturer definitely needs something more up to date, mainly because of poor fuel economy and overall efficiency that characterized the 2020 4Runner. Still, keep in mind that this is just a rumor and that probably won’t happen at all.
- Amazing off-road capabilities
- Efficient engines
- World-class reliability
- Three rows of seats
- Lots of hard plastics on the inside
- Probably won’t come to the U.S. market
It may sound unrealistic, but there are actually many good reasons to believe that 2020 Toyota Fortuner would be successful in the U.S. market. First of all, this SUV is based on the world’s most iconic truck, Toyota Hilux. Even this is enough to count on spectacular reliability and off-road performances. Of course, its arrival in North America would probably demand a few visual modifications. This refers primarily to the front end, which would get a more attractive layout, with new grille, bumpers, headlights etc. On the other side, mechanics would probably remain untouched, of course, if we don’t count new engine options.
The Fortuner is a mid-size SUV. Therefore, it offers a spacious cabin, with three rows of seating. First, two rows are quite spacious, while the third one is cramped, which is a common thing for the class. The dashboard features great quality. It is durable and built to last for ages. However, it lacks refinement, something that the U.S. market would demand. Therefore, the possible arrival in North America would probably mean a lot of work on the inside. This would mean a new dashboard design, with a little bit more style and finer, soft-touch materials. Also, more standard equipment would be another certain thing.
|Dimensions And Weight|
|Overall width (mm)||1,855|
|Turning Circle||11.6 m|
|Engine And Transmission|
|Transmission||6-Speed Automatic with Sequential Control|
|PRICE RANGE: $41,590 starting msrp, $45,220 dealers|
This would be a tricky part, definitely. Considering that the current version is sold around the world, it mainly comes with diesel engines. Therefore, the North American version would definitely get a new powertrain. Adding same thirsty engines from the 4Runner makes no point, so we are pretty sure that the 2020 Toyota Fortuner would come with a familiar 3.5-liter V6, the same one that powers Tacoma pickup truck, which is good for about 275 horsepower. Also, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a diesel version too. In this case, it would be a familiar 2.8-liter turbodiesel with around 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
2020 Toyota Fortuner Release Date and Price
The 2020 Toyota Fortuner probably won’t come to North America. On the other side, the version that is available around the world probably won’t feature any bigger changes. Still, if it ever arrives at the U.S. market, it would probably feature starting price around $40,000.
