2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid
If you’re not familiar with this nameplate, that’s probably because you don’t live in Japan. It the era of models that are designed for global markets, the Harrier is pretty much a rare bird. It is a mid-size crossover, designed primarily for domestic market. Still, it is also available in a couple of more Asian countries.
The current, first generation is present on the market since 2013 and its timeline is pretty much the same as for the current-generation Lexus RX, which is offered globally. Therefore, we probably won’t see bigger changes in terms of base design characteristics. On the other side, there is a chance to see a couple of tweaks to the powertrain.
- Distinctive styling
- Upscale interior
- Great fuel economy
- Needs more power
In terms of base design characteristics, the 2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid definitely won’t change. This model is designed especially for domestic market. Therefore, it comes with pretty distinctive styling. Its design language doesn’t have much in common with its global counterparts, neither with the Lexus RX, nor with the Toyota Highlander.
On the other side, mechanics are largely the same as in two mentioned models. That means a familiar K platform, which was also used for the previous-generation Camry. As we already mentioned, the 2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid shouldn’t feature any important change. The best we could get is a couple of new color options.
On the inside, the Harrier looks pretty upscale. We don’t expect bigger changes for the next year. So, count on the same dashboard layout, with a possibility of new color schemes in the offer. In practice, that means a lot of hi-quality, soft-touch materials.
When it comes to practicality and overall functionality, the 2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid will be more oriented to luxury. Therefore, count on two spacious and very comfortable rows of seats, as well as on a pretty generous cargo area.

This is the aspect where many experts see a chance for updates, despite the fact that the current version features modern hybrid system from Camry, which delivers a total amount of 205 horsepower and comes paired with a CVT gearbox. It is super economical powertrain, but more power would definitely be a nice update.
Therefore, it won’t be a surprise if the 2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid come with a little bit more power. Besides, hybrid version, count on a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four gasoline engine, which is good for about 235 horsepower. This one comes with an automatic transmission.
2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid Release Date and Price
Despite potential changes on powertrain, the 2020 Toyota Harrier Hybrid probably won’t come before late 2019. Base models should go around $40,000.
