2020 Toyota Hilux
The current generation of the famous pickup truck has been around for about three years. Considering that we already saw one update, there is no doubt that this model is pretty fresh and that it definitely won’t need bigger changes in the next few years. Therefore, the 2020 Toyota Hilux will continue in the pretty much same way.
Count on a recognizable design, as well as on a long list of super capable and reliable engines. Naturally, this lack of changes would also mean a typical arrival date, sometime late in the year.
- Exceptional reliability
- Superb off-road performances
- Wide palette of engines
- Spacious and durable cabin
- Costs more than rivals
- Some cabin areas could be finer
The Hilux has been completely redesigned and re-engineered in 2015. Also, we saw an update last year, which included a fine number of interesting changes. It came with a lot of aesthetical changes, inspired by the North American sibling Tacoma. The front end is completely new and it includes a new grille, headlights, and bumper. All of them closely resemble the Tacoma.
Of course, mechanics remained unchanged and we have no doubt that the 2020 Toyota Hilux will also keep things untouched. Moreover, bigger changes are not expected until a complete redesign. Also, count on familiar body styles in the offer, with both single and two-row layouts, different bed sizes etc.
When it comes to the cabin design, the 2020 Toyota Hilux definitely won’t feature any important change. It will continue with a familiar layout, which closely resembles a typical crossover or passenger car. There are no bulky truck-inch lines on the dashboard and everything looks pretty stylish. Still, Toyota kept most of hard plastic surfaces, which guarantee excellent durability and decades of use.
According to several sources, there is a chance to see a new trim level for the 2020 Toyota Hilux, some kind of a luxury version. Of course, this one would include more standard equipment, but also finer materials inside the cabin. However, this is just a rumor at the moment.

One of Hilux’s main qualities is a variety of reliable engines in the offer. Considering that this truck rides on the roads from all around the world, such variety seems natural. Most of these engines are oil-burners. The most common is a 2.8-liter unit with around 180 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque.
Another common engine is an older-generation 3.0-liter turbodiesel, which delivers around 165 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. When it comes to gasoline units, there is a familiar 2.7-liter unit with around 160 horsepower, as well as a large 4.0-liter V6, which is good for about 245 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
