2021 Toyota Etios
As a major carmaker, it seems natural that Toyota has a number of models that are designed for specific parts of the world, particularly when it comes to developing markets. The Etios is one of these models. Introduced in 2010, this subcompact car is available in markets like India, Brazil, Argentina, Indonesia etc. It comes in two variants, either as a hatchback or as a sedan. After almost a decade of production, it looks like the nameplate will be discontinued. Latest reports are suggesting this will happen in the next year, so the 2021 Toyota Etios should be the last year model in production.
- Affordable price.
- Good fuel economy.
- Decent cargo volume for the class.
- Weak engines.
- Outdated design.
- Lack of modern features.
Considering that this is going to be the last production year, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in the 2021 Toyota Etios. This will be a farewell model, so things are about to remain pretty much the same. Therefore, count on familiar design characteristics.
This model rides on an old EFC platform, which doesn’t deliver any spectacular driving characteristics, but still ensures a pretty economical ride. Styling-wise, this model is available both as a sedan or hatchback, as we already mentioned. Both models feature pretty classical styling, which doesn’t have much in common with Toyota’s global design language. With lots of curvy lines, this model actually features a design that is more common for the previous decade of the automotive industry.
Once again, don’t expect any notable change. The 2021 Toyota Etios will continue with the same interior design, which is pretty basic. Considering that the model is designed for developing markets, you can’t see the same level of opulence as you can see in models like Yaris. Most of the cabin is made of hard plastics, while the dashboard looks blend for today’s standards. Still, that shouldn’t be taken as a drawback, considering that we are talking about a budget-friendly car.
The engine lineup is about to remain the same. There are three engines available in this small car. The most common is probably a small 1.2-liter gasoline unit, which delivers around 80 horsepower. A bigger 1.5-liter gasoline unit is also available in some markets and it delivers around 90 horsepower. Finally, there is a diesel version with a well-known 1.4-liter D-4D engine, which features a max output of around 68 horsepower.
2021 Toyota Etios Release Date and Price
Considering that the 2021 Toyota Etios will come without changes, we expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of the next year. The price can vary, depending on the market. Still, in most cases, base models go around $13,000.
