2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel
The current generation of the most popular mid-size truck has just received a mid-cycle refresh. There is a nice amount of interesting novelties, starting from a new grille, new interior features, smartphone integration etc. However, that doesn’t mean that the current generation is done with changes and updates. According to the latest reports, a diesel version is finally coming. The 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will come with a new engine, which will provide not just better fuel economy, but higher towing ratings as well. We expect to see it sometime in the next year.
- Improved towing capacity.
- Great fuel economy.
- Excellent off-road performances.
- Traditionally great predicted reliability ratings.
- Rivals are more comfortable.
- Still waits for the official confirmation.
The next year will be equally interesting for Tacoma fans as this one. Despite the recent update, Toyota is preparing another, pretty big novelty. This time, novelties are coming under the hood, as we are about to see an oil-burner for the first time in this truck. According to the latest reports, we are about to see a familiar 2.8-liter turbodiesel, the same one that powers the legendary HiLux and Land Cruiser Prado.
This engine is rated at 177 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque. However, we count on a slight power boost for this occasion, which will make this truck more competitive with rivals. We presume that the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will be able to tow around 7.500 pounds. Also, we believe that the new version will manage to achieve 27 miles per gallon in a combined ride.
Other than an engine, the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel shouldn’t feature too many differences compared to standard gasoline models. We count on the same design, which has been recently updated with a new grille. At this point, we don’t know whether the new engine will be available in the TRD Pro model. This version has also received a couple of novelties with the recent update, including new Fox shocks and higher ground clearance.
Once again, don’t count on bigger differences compared to the gasoline models. Of course, the instrument cluster will be a little bit different, but the overall cabin layout will remain the same. This includes recent updates as well. There are novelties like a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, new touchscreen interface, smartphone integration etc. Also, there are new camera-based systems that allow you to see everything around and underneath the vehicle.
2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel Release Date and Price
Despite the big novelty, we don’t believe that the 2021 Toyota Tacoma Diesel will come much earlier than usual. It will probably hit the market sometime late in the next year. Naturally, the starting price will be higher compared to the base gasoline model. We expect a price tag of around $35,000.
